Trafford, in Motion
Movement as Urban Experience
This project explores the relationship between movement, public space, and urban experience. It focuses on how architecture can respond to changing patterns of use within contemporary cities. Set within Trafford, the proposal investigates the pressures created by congestion, uneven spatial demand, and underused infrastructure, examining how these conditions shape the everyday experience of the city.
Beyond Transport Efficiency
Rather than approaching transport purely as a technical issue, the project considers mobility as an experiential condition that influences comfort, perception, interaction, and well-being. It questions how infrastructure can move beyond efficiency-driven solutions to create environments that are socially engaging, visually connected, and people-centred.
Walkability and Spatial Connection
The design proposal uses walkability, greenery, and framed visual connections as key tools for improving both movement and spatial experience. Through landscaped routes, multi-modal corridors, and responsive public nodes, the project aims to encourage more engaging and human-centred forms of movement while strengthening wider urban connectivity.
Designing for Atmosphere and Interaction
Alongside its urban focus, the project explores experiential and performative space, investigating how architecture can shape emotional and physical engagement with the environment. Overall, the proposal seeks to balance functionality with atmosphere, positioning mobility infrastructure not only as a system of movement, but as an active contributor to the character and experience of the city.
