ANEMONE - Harmonizing High-Tech and Organic Healing

CPU embodies a profound understanding of systems, recognizing that architecture plays a pivotal role in orchestrating the intricate urban fabric, setting developmental benchmarks, and nurturing vibrant communities. Moreover, it demonstrates a mindful awareness of environmental concerns and the ability to anticipate far-reaching outcomes. Throughout my project, I embraced a holistic perspective, examining my design through three temporal lenses: the past, the present, and the future. Delving into the past entailed comprehending the social context of MMU, NHS, and Hulme within the dynamic landscape of Manchester's rapid growth. Evaluating the present highlighted the pressing healthcare crisis, characterized by exhausted healthcare professionals, overcrowded spaces, and inadequate environments for patients and staff. It became imperative to effect change, prioritize the well-being of healthcare personnel, and lay the foundation for future generations of dedicated medical practitioners. Looking toward the future, I emphasized the resilience and adaptability of my proposal, envisioning spaces that evolve over time to accommodate emerging needs while exerting a positive influence on the ongoing development of Manchester's Higher Education institutions.

My proposal aligns closely with the ongoing research conducted by the NHS AI Lab, centring around the incorporation of artificial intelligence within medical services. The core concept revolves around utilizing technology as a supportive tool to streamline tasks and alleviate both time constraints and emotional burdens. Mindful integration of specialized technology and networking was a key objective, striving for an organic and seamless approach. This involved designing naturally illuminated spaces, fostering open areas for human interaction, and ensuring transparency between different programmatic spaces. Additionally, the inclusion of green areas, both within the building and in its surroundings, played a pivotal role in creating a welcoming ambiance and harnessing the healing power of natural elements. The aim was to cultivate a sense of community within the building, that extends towards nurturing the outside community: new development will bring focus in Hulme, MMU will show interest in technological investment and Manchester can benefit from a new platform of opportunities.
