Our project aligns with research in the 'Encounter and Exchange' strand of the continutiy in architecture atelier where we have been investigating the future of historic high streets in towns and cities. The aim of the project is to design a building generated with programmes that are developing in the local area, linked to the changing nature of High streets. The primary function of the building is 'Accrington craft + trade institute' - a place to learn, make, build and trade. My proposal focuses on restoration of stone as a craft for the institute as many buildings in town are badly affected by weather and demand restoration. The atelier made me understand the value of preserving the old and how to integrate new.
