Welcome to the 2022 Manchester School of Architecture end of year exhibition. After the challenges of the last two years, we are delighted to be able to present the work of the School in person this year. It is good to be back!

On display is the student work from across the School, including the first and second years of BA Architecture, our eight vertical ateliers which feature the work of both BA3 and MArch students, as well as the Master of Landscape Architecture and MA Architecture and Urbanism programmes. The exhibition also features the work of our flagship initiative MSA LIVE in which our students work with local community groups, charities, and stakeholders on live projects to create social impact.

It has been a very exciting year in the School with new programmes being written including MA Architecture and Adaptive Reuse, which will focus on working with existing buildings, as well as plans for a Part 3 programme to allow students to qualify as an Architect from the School. We have also launched a PSA service to mentor year out students in practice and have plans for a Foundation in Architecture as well as an MA Architecture and Future Living with George Clarke’s educational charity MOBIE. We have also appointed a significant number of new staff to work in a number of areas across the School, additional Professors, a Deputy Head, extra workshop staff, along with the conversion of casual staff into permanent part time ones. We were also delighted to have appointed 6 new Visiting Professors from the UK and USA to help support our agendas.

We were delighted with the recent news that the School has risen to 7th place in the prestigious QS World University Rankings, which highlight the world’s top performing universities in 51 individual academic areas. The result places us second in the UK overall and as the top performing School in the country for employer reputation. Finally, our other big news is that in September we will be moving to a newly refurbished space in the Manchester Technology Centre on Oxford Road which will see us occupy two floors of open plan accommodation, something which we are all very excited about!

We would like to thank all the staff from both institutions, visiting tutors, speakers, practices, organisations, and community groups who have contributed to our curriculum this year; we are so grateful for your continued support into our academic community. Well done and congratulations to all on our achievements.

We hope you enjoy viewing the work of our incredible students!
