The church buildings in the UK are facing huge challenges now. Many of the churches have been abandoned for various reasons. However, in the old days, churches were used as buildings for Christian worship services and other Christian religious activities, and they were often designed and built with a great amount of labour, time and money. Their artistic, historical, and architectural values are very high.

The site of my Studio B&C project is the ruins of a highly damaged church. It is located in Cheetham Hill, Manchester, and was once a Perpendicular-Gothic-style church. But now mostly derelict, only the tower and west end of the aisles and vestry survive.

My work will begin with an introduction to the background of the current churches in the UK, then move on to an introduction and analysis of the target site. Design strategies and specific proposal will be shown next.
