The Manchester Student Society of Architecture (MSSA) groups WithOutAHome (WOAH) and MSSA Photography will be presenting “Unseen Realities”, a photography exhibition from 22 February to 28 February 2024.

Current students of Manchester School of Architecture (MSA), University of Manchester (UoM) and Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) are invited to submit photographs for the exhibition, in response to:

Use your lens to provoke thought and empathy, raising awareness regarding the homeless community around the world.

The submission deadline is 1 February 2024.

Entries will be selected by an expert panel:

  • Professor Kevin Singh – Head of Manchester School of Architecture
  • Dr José Angel Hidalgo Arellano – BA Architecture Programme Leader
  • Christopher Maloney – Master of Architecture (MArch) Programme Leader
  • Shelter - Housing and homelessness charity
  • Dr Michael Pritchard – Director of Programmes / Royal Photographic Society
  • Professor Martine Hamilton Knight – Author of Photography for Architects (2023) Routledge
  • Gordon Wu – Chair of Manchester Student Society of Architecture

The selected photographs will be commended with a certificate and showcased on Instagram and MSSA's M+ Magazine.

One entry will be chosen as the 'Peoples’ Choice,' determined by the votes and support of exhibition attendees and online viewers.
