Burnley’s economy is facing significant challenges. As evident from discussions with local residents and analysis of data. One key factor that stands out in contributing to this struggle is the issue of “brain drain.”
Young individuals are leaving Burnley to seek better opportunities in neighbouring cities like Manchester and Leeds due to limited opportunities and job prospects in their hometown.
This outflow of young talent has had a detrimental impact on the community, leading to weakened social connections and a diminished sense of belonging.
I propose an “enterprise hub”. A space that provides a platform for accessing valuable resources that will allow Burnley's aspiring young entrepreneurs to transform their dreams into a successful business while remaining rooted in the local community. The enterprise hub will foster an inclusive environment where individuals from all backgrounds are welcomed, offering a unique opportunity for creative learning and collaborative creation. It serves as a catalyst for innovation, enabling individuals to both learn and earn in a local, supportive and inspiring setting.
