I have developed a strong interest for conservation architecture and heritage, which the Continuity in Architecture atelier allowed me to explore through a regeneration design project based in a historic area of Bradford. The concept is based around an existing Victorian building to which I am attaching an extension in order for the overall new construction to host three clients, requiring an art gallery, office spaces and an archive for the Civic Society. The aim of the design is to create a strong contrast between old and new, however not to overshadow the neighboring listed buildings, but to highlight the importance of heritage. Through the architectural addition and repurposing of the existing, I was looking to regenerate the Top of Town of Bradford as the new building would become a social and cultural hub.
