The project focuses on the ability to connect and anchor people to the The Quarry by reactivating the area with the Culture House comprising of a library, art centre and town council offices. The use of natural materials and constant views towards nature create spaces of wonder and introspection as well as a public living room for the convival coming together of people. Pronounced timber framing, borrowed from Shrewsbury’s vernacular architecture, is simplified to an ordering system allowing the building to be read from public to private, accommodating the sonorous and the still spaces.
