I am an architect and urban designer with experience in a range of architectural and urban projects in the private sector and design competitions.  I also have experience in teaching and research in the field of urban design, with a particular interest in design codes; smart growth; design methods, and New Urbanism tools.

My MA thesis addresses the usefulness of New Urbanism principles for proposing an urban design project based on the masterplan scheme in Bogota, Colombia. It shows that both local demands and New Urbanism tools might provide a better-built scenario for the development of local communities. Similarly, my dissertation explores how design codes inspired by New Urbanism may improve the local planning regulations in order to reduce the socio-spatial segregation caused by the spreading of gated communities in the city.  These works also seek to open up the discussion about how the contingencies of place contribute to New Urbanism’s differentiated forms.
