MSA LIVE is Manchester School of Architecture’s annual programme of live projects, bringing together community partners and interdisciplinary teams of architecture students to address real-world challenges and opportunities across Greater Manchester and the North West.

They are currently inviting proposals for MSA LIVE 2027 and welcome submissions from academics, researchers or knowledge exchange teams who are working in partnership with other organisations. The initiative can provide an effective platform for exploring ideas, testing approaches, developing community engagement activities and more.

Each project is developed collaboratively between a partner organisation and a group of undergraduate and postgraduate students, often focusing on themes such as biodiversity, climate action, community infrastructure, heritage and social equity.

Successful projects will be selected by students in early 2027, with partnership working beginning following a ‘Meet the Collaborators’ event in February. The work will then be developed in the run-up to an intensive Project Week in May 2027, culminating in student presentations and outputs. Throughout the process, the students involved will be supported by MSA LIVE staff and academic mentors.
