Beyond the Hedgerow
Beyond the Hedgerow explores how hedgerows can evolve beyond agricultural boundaries to become a multifunctional ecological infrastructure connecting rivers, farmland, wildlife, and people. The spiration from the native structure of traditional hedgerows. By analysing layers such as trees, shrubs, herbaceous planting, soil systems, and drainage ditches, the hedgerow is reinterpreted as an ecological framework for the entire site.Through wetlands, ecological corridors, and layered planting systems, the project transforms fragmented landscapes into a continuous environmental network that improves water resilience, supports biodiversity, and creates immersive public experiences. Moving through the site, visitors encounter wetlands, riverside spaces, ecological education areas, and habitat corridors, gradually experiencing a deeper relationship between landscape and ecology. The project reimagines the hedgerow not as a division, but as a living system of connection, restoration, and coexistence.
