From Waste to Living Landscape

This project explores waste not as a problem to be removed, but as an active ecological substrate that shapes landscape processes. Located on Pomona Island, the design works with existing site conditions to transform industrial remnants into a dynamic system of soil formation, vegetation growth, and habitat creation.Through a series of differentiated patches, the project enables ecological succession and supports diverse species inhabitation, while introducing low-impact interventions for human access and observation. Rather than imposing a fixed form, the landscape is conceived as an evolving system, where waste, soil, plants, animals, and people interact over time.
