THE [Li]FE CENTER
HEALING THE PAST BY HEALING THE PEOPLE
Kernow, previously known as Cornwall, holds a rich history built on the past industry of tin mining. The revival of the mines, brought about through the introduction of lithium extraction, offers Kernow the opportunity to reconsider the use of mining products. In an industry that previously prioritised profit, Kernow sees an opportunity to prioritise its people, creating a center that benefits its community.
The [Li]fe Center explores the use of lithium and other minerals within the medical field, and how this can be supported by other non-standard treatments. It aims to heal the past, transforming the old tin mines from a place of danger and disease into a new celebration of life and a vision for the future, exploring healing through mind, body, medicine and architecture.
