STORIES TO SPACES

In my third year of study, I explored architecture as a means of translation, with the primary goal of transforming stories into spaces. This unique approach enables individuals and communities to express complex ideas and emotions that are often difficult to convey with words alone. By revealing these narratives, we can foster a deeper understanding of diverse perspectives within our communities.

My initial investigation focused on the city of Sheffield, specifically the story of Yemeni men and boys who migrated to work in the steel factories of Attercliffe during the labor shortages of the 1950s. Highlighting these stories is crucial for cultivating a richer appreciation of Sheffield, as it showcases the social fabric of the area and captures the essence of the public realm, ultimately encouraging connection and understanding within the community.

To bring this vision to life, I blended physical and digital environments in my research. By utilizing Augmented Reality (AR) technology, I was able to enhance the storytelling experience, making the narratives more engaging and accessible while reducing reliance on physical infrastructure.
