Day-Dreamscapes

Day Dreamscapes is an architectural thesis project that responds to the social, emotional, and spatial needs of the youth in Moss Side, Manchester. Rooted in the idea of daydreaming as a tool for resilience and aspiration, the project proposes a network of subtle urban interventions that invite imagination, self-expression, and communal engagement. Rather than imposing fixed structures, Day Dreamscapes weaves into the everyday life of Moss Side through adaptable, participatory spaces such as a curiosity pavilion, wellness zones, and sensory landscapes. These interventions are informed by conversations with local residents and an understanding of the area's rich cultural identity and history. The project foregrounds the role of architecture in shaping not just buildings, but attitudes—by creating environments that nurture hope, ambition, and connection. At its core, Day Dreamscapes envisions architecture as a social infrastructure, one that enables young people to imagine new futures while strengthening bonds within their community.
