Intersecting Futures

Intersecting Futures is a design proposal that addresses the intersection of healthcare innovation, robotics development, and ecological regeneration, envisioning Cleator Moor’s transition from nuclear dependence to a future grounded in local needs and environmental responsibility. The project transforms Leconfield Industrial Park into a Robotics Distribution Centre where robots are developed and deployed to address healthcare and environmental needs. Existing brick buildings are refurbished, with materials from demolished structures reused to reduce environmental impact. New additions feature sawtooth roofs with solar panels and modular partitions for flexibility. The site integrates robotics facilities, a Triage Assessment Unit, and a leisure wetland with a promenade and café—creating a space where medical and robotics work intersect with nature and community life. Reimagining a post-industrial landscape, the proposal establishes resilient infrastructure that responds to regional healthcare disparities, ecological degradation, and economic transition—advancing a future-oriented architecture rooted in local needs and environmental responsibility.
