The Commons of Survival Verdant Agora: The Year 2100
The Commons of Survival Verdant Agora project envisions a transformative, community-led space centred around exchange, where culture, care, and climate resilience intersect. Located in a future-facing site (The Year 2100) impacted by climate change, which I am very interested in. The proposal acts as both a sanctuary and a living archive that preserves the heritage of displaced communities, while enabling new forms of expression and education.
At its core is The Knowledge Exchange, a cultural archive that documents and celebrates traditions, stories, and practices at risk of being lost to environmental displacement. This archive is dynamic, inviting contributions from its users, fostering intergenerational knowledge-sharing and community. An adjoining exhibition space offers climate victims an expressive outlet through storytelling, performance, and curated displays of lived experience. Integrated into the project is a multipurpose workshop for skill-sharing, creativity, and making, which reinforces self-sufficiency and cultural continuity.
The Goods Exchange, is a community infrastructure for mutual aid, including a food bank, clothing bank, and a materials waste bank that supports circular building practices using reusable goods like steel and plastic. Anchoring the site is The Space Exchange, landscapes and green spaces designed to restore biodiversity and reverse the impacts of climate change, an immersive space of calm, hope, and ecological learning that reconnects users to landscapes of the past and the possible future.
