The project proposes different urban interventions based on the local context and vision. In terms of promoting the urban development of Karistos and enhancing the overall well-being of the local population, I have made the promotion of tourism a core principle. I want to tap into a unique urban narrative and create a distinctive urban identity for Kallistos.
Incorporating elements of Greek mythology into the urban design concept to attract tourists while adding a unique cultural appeal to the local area, enhancing its prestige and attractiveness. In this way, the local historical and cultural heritage, such as the Dragon House, will be preserved while creating a creative and uniquely experiential tourist destination. Specifically, the urban design will follow the concept of New Urbanism, which emphasises the concept of a walkable city, with different types of city squares, parks and public spaces intertwined with Greek mythology and local culture, subtly guiding visitors to explore and experience the city. For local residents, the integration of parks and squares into the urban environment contributes to their overall quality of life.
The urban design starts from the details, starting from the neighbourhood division of the plot, and forms the basic form of the city through the weaving and combination of small-scale blocks. At the same time, it focuses on the interaction between neighbourhoods and nature by setting up different types of parks in the city, with different types of parks corresponding to different functions, which together have a positive impact on the city. While injecting vitality into the city, it enhances the connection between community neighbours and strengthens community cohesion. This initiative combines urban living, natural landscapes and cultural heritage promotion, which together create a picture of vibrant, comfortable and pleasant living, contributing to the prosperity of tourism and the well-being of residents.
