I am the Director of the Continuity in Architecture College in the Manchester School of Architecture. I teach studio courses at BArch and MA level concerned with urban regeneration, building re-use and the relationship between interior architecture and installation art. They are programmes for the design of new buildings and public spaces within the historic city and interventions within existing structures. The college believes in the importance of place and that the design of art and architecture can be influenced by the experience and analysis of particular situations. I lecture on installation art, connections between art and architecture and building re-use within the Humanities programme. As such I have a wide knowledge of art practice especially in the context of the built environment. I have travelled widely in Europe undertaking research and I have presented papers on art-based architectural interventions.
