Millenium Dome

The Millennium Dome is famed for being an economic failure, lacking a sense of purpose and commercial viability when launched. It nevertheless went on to house a number of commercial establishments including a sponsored concert arena and its dome is celebrated as a fine feat of architecture and engineering. In politic-speak it is practically synonym for “white elephant”, signifying an expensive but ultimately useless artefact.
