Atelier qed students Adriann Jeevanathan and Haseef Rafiei received honourable mentions as two of the twenty five projects selected for recognition from the 444 project entries from across the globe in the evolo 2017 skyscaper competition. The competition invited visionary concepts for high rise architecture.

Colin Pugh (atelier qed coordinator) commented that "both projects presented a creative and imaginative challenge to the way we understand the ecology of high rise development and gained recognition in the top five percent of a huge international field".

Atelier qed students were also awarded Honourable Mentions in the 2017 Innovative Minds competition. Alex Macbeth and James Killeavy were recognised by the judging panel along with 9 other projects reflecting the global reach of a competition that asked students to explore the relationship between site specificity and cybernetics. The competition invited entries to "present a new way of interacting with the world".
